I am flat out with work at the moment and so this is the first time I have properly logged into WordPress for what seems an age (well 5 days!!), and is likely to be this way for another week or so. In turn, I am snatching photo opportunities when I can. This image was taken last Thursday morning just after sunrise with the fog so thick you could look at the shape of the sun 🙂
I took this image on my way to work this morning – very cold (-1C) and watched the colour unfold as I was driving. I saw this dam with the wonderful reflections of the (very large) lambs against the increasing fog and warm pre-sunrise light – I had to stop and get out with the camera 🙂
Last Tuesday was a glorious morning, the temperature about -4 C and a heavy frost. It was slightly strange as it had warmed enough to start thawing and then as usual at first light, the temperature dropped, but this time dramatically and refroze everything. This was taken just after sunrise with the first low rays of light. I took a heap of images and have only just started sorting so there will be more to come 🙂
A quick post today. The weather has been miserable and wet for the last few days and so no opportunity for outside shots and heaps of other things going on. I did manage this one just at sunrise on Friday after a heavy frost, the valley had filled with the mist and looked a promising day (the reality was that a really heavy fog rolled in just after and it was overcast for hours!)
In the last few days we managed to get a couple of nights away at the coast. We stayed at Waratah Bay which is near Wilsons Prom, the most southern point of mainland Australia. Today I was rewarded with an amazing sunrise. I had checked the tide times and knew high tide would be about 2 hours before first light – perfect! This image was taken about 15 minutes before actual sunrise…. 🙂
During the year or with different seasons, there are certain times of day where the light is just magical to us all. At this time for us in the southern hemisphere, sunrise is now getting later and later and the light is just simply beautiful…a moment captured in autumn 🙂
I welcome the coming of autumn – often cool nights and beautiful warm sunny days. The coming of autumn also heralds one of my most busy time at work, there is a harvest to bring in (I’m a Vineyard Manager)! My postings will probably become a little sporadic over the coming weeks. This shot was taken a couple of days ago with an autumnal mist and spectacular sunrise….
Anyone who has watched the tennis will know that Melbourne and hence Victoria has endured a week long heat wave. It has been truly disgusting weather, as I post this blog, am waiting for the cool change due in a few hours and hoping for no fires. I think I have chosen these as the heat is so claustrophobic and these are cool and open spaces. Metered for the sky and handheld, taken about 30 minutes before sunrise.
Whilst I missed the festive postings as was so busy (grapevines don’t know it’s Christmas!), I realised that January 12th would be a year since I first started the blog. I would like to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to the people that follow the blog and to those that have taken the time to write comments and liked posts. I enjoy the blogging community and love reading others’ posts. A lot has changed in the past year – one of the biggest was shooting in RAW (I started in film) and look forward to another year of learning!
Here we are psyching up for a week long heat wave while others are freezing – stay safe!
