Today I visited a new florist (Flowers in a Vase) and spent some time drooling over various stems and flowers. I came away with a few different specimens which I spent the afternoon photographing with the macro lens 🙂 Here is the first, a type of Protea which is native to South Africa but apparently grows quite happily here in Australia.
So we enter yet another dismal week of weather 😦 This is my entry for this weeks Monochrome Madness Challenge hosted by Leanne Cole and Laura Macky….a great challenge where you get to see a heap of brilliant work in monochrome by a wide range of artists, do check it out.
I’m not entirely happy with my image, I’m rusty with my macro lens, especially putting it on a full frame camera again, but has been good to get it out and actually use it 🙂 Taken using natural light – please click on the image for more detail.
I’m now into the full swing of pruning – this is enjoyable and rewarding but physically hard work and days like today when you stand out in the winter rain all day, well…suffice to say I’m a bit tired 🙂 So a late post with an image looking through the bottom of a trestle bridge that is in a very sad state of repair – I spent half my time looking up to make sure nothing was going to fall on my head. I will go back at a different time of day but here it is for now 🙂
Yesterday was one of those beautiful late autumn mornings, fog filtering sunbeams through the trees at sunrise – just magical…
Yesterday was an overcast day with many heavy rain clouds rolling in (for us winter isn’t far away) when I spotted this tree up on a hill. It’s shape was so perfect… 🙂
I saw this the other day at the end of an afternoon with the sun low in the sky. The scenery struck me as being very apt – the Camel’s Hump is a mamelon, formed about 6 million years ago when thick lava forced its way through a narrow vent…the clouds almost look like smoke from a volcano.
Well, harvest is over and I’m nearly back! I hadn’t realised with the house move and harvest on it’s tail just how exhausted I became. Anyhow, what I have realised, is that when I don’t get to go out and take images, there is something missing 🙂 So, today is a total abstract, taken this morning in between showers. The top of a capped fence with rain drops refracting light into a shaded area taken with the macro… 🙂
I found this old building on my way back from Nulla Vale on Sunday. After a bit of Google search, I discovered that it was a school originally built in 1875 by George Wines on 5 acres. It was moved to this location by a team of 22 horses in 1902, becoming full time in 1911 until it closed in 1943. It is sad, but this is a heritage listed building that I somehow don’t think will survive much longer.
Last week there were thunderstorms at the end of most of the hot days. This was taken early evening as a storm was building – the sunburst was amazing as you could almost reach out and touch it such was the texture of the light.
