This was taken last month, late, on a very dull overcast afternoon at the Lauriston Reservoir in Kyneton. This is the wall of the spillway, at the top there are sluice gates that open and so that in the residual run off, several different types of algae (or maybe a different age?) have grown producing these rainbow stripes.

Berry nice!
Harvest time is here….
A quick post as very busy times now. Not the best of images but thought I would share what I see and think about most of the time at the moment! The weather is proving difficult – after months of no rain and now when we need it dry, there are periodic days of wetness or drizzle. Today was a beautiful day with a good pick. This is a bunch of Pinot Noir taken last week after heavy fog.

Autumn has arrived!
I welcome the coming of autumn – often cool nights and beautiful warm sunny days. The coming of autumn also heralds one of my most busy time at work, there is a harvest to bring in (I’m a Vineyard Manager)! My postings will probably become a little sporadic over the coming weeks. This shot was taken a couple of days ago with an autumnal mist and spectacular sunrise….

Fallen…

Last image from my recent visit to Pyalong. I’ve enjoyed this series of posts – they are surreal but then so is the landscape. I’m aware they may be becoming a bit ‘samey’ so something different next time….anyhow, this scene struck me as it was so desolate, dead trees both standing and fallen in a tinder box landscape….
Palace of bales?
Again very time poor (but who isn’t?) so another image from Pyalong taken last week. When I saw this hay shed, the structure reminded me almost of a Roman villa or palace with columns but stuck in this quite alien landscape of bleached parched land…

House moves and triangular clouds….
I haven’t had the chance for either taking photos or posting due to moving house and work being really busy- but we all know what that is like… a week in we are getting there (slowly!). Today I needed to do some ‘soul soothing’ so went out to one of my favourites – Pyalong. Probably a bit too tired for photos or processing but still good to have camera back in hand with a wonderful sky again. Here is one from this morning…

The Laughing Kooka…
This was a funny bird (and it’s mate) that followed us around a reservoir the other week. The Kookaburra is part of the Kingfisher family with it’s name coming from the Wiradjuri language. They have an amazing call – on my first visit here, many years ago, it reminded me of monkeys even though I knew there were no monkeys in Australia, but it was 5 am in a new country – hey?!!
Now it makes me think of rain coming 🙂
