A golden moment….

Another quick hello! ย Having not had much opportunity to take images of late, I saw this in our garden a few weeks ago just as the last rays of the sun for the day were hitting this little flower (unusual for me, I threw the label away last year when I planted it – doh!). ย A wonderful moment with the background in deep shadow and the low angled light picking up detail of the pollen grains and petal texture ๐Ÿ™‚

Late spring seed heads…

Firstly apologies as I have been a little sporadic in the blog world of late – am playing catch up!

I saw this mixture of tiny little grass seed heads last weekend at Pyalong. The shape of some of the seeds reminded me of hops and almost looked like they were on little fishing lines – very delicate and pretty. ย It was blowing a gale so not as sharp as I would want but the high afternoon light was beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚

A Dragon’s Eye?!

Yesterday I visited a wonderful garden filled with many northern hemisphere specimens – I don’t know what this tree was but the trunk and bark where wonderful! ย A macro abstract of this ‘eye’ in the trunk which made me think of a Dragon’s eye… ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Monochrome Madness – Week 34

Yet another week has rolled around and so tomorrow morning (AEST) sees week 34 of Monochrome Madness on Leanne Cole’s blog. ย If you are interested in monochrome images then do visit the post with global submissions from some very talented artists. This is my submission – ‘A Hint of an Orchid’. ย I’ve been experimenting with very shallow depth of field using the 105 mm macro and am starting to get the type of images I want ๐Ÿ™‚

Spring has sprung!

Yes, at long last the weather has turned and today is the first day of daylight saving where the clocks have gone forward so it feels even more like we have turned that wintry corner. ย For me, work starts to get busy, as does the garden and it’s macro lens time! ย  These two images were taken very early yesterday morning. ย Click in twice for more details ๐Ÿ™‚

Fractals in a Flower….

I haven’t had any time to go out and about with the camera of late and so another macro – this time of a Protea flower and also my entry for the 25th Monochrome Madness Challenge which is diligently curated by Leanne Cole. ย Do check out the post (published Wednesday mornings AEST). ย As always I was drawn to the pattern in this beautiful bloom with it’s incredible ‘fluffy’ texture and nature doing what she does best ๐Ÿ™‚

Black ice?!!

Another image taken from the exceptionally hard frost last Sunday and my entry for the 23rd Monochrome Madness Challengeย –ย  a frozen blackberry stem…The challenge initiated by Laura Macky (wishing her well) and Leanne Cole (curator) is a weekly smorgasbord of monochrome images from photographers all over the world and published Wednesday mornings (AEST) on Leanne’s blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Glowing Gorse…

Yesterday was an extra post because of the excitement of the snow ๐Ÿ˜› ย This morning saw one of the hardest frosts I have seen in years so I was out before sunrise to capture the magical ice crystals – I wasn’t disappointed ๐Ÿ™‚ This is a little Gorse bloom (considered a noxious weed here in Australia) with a wonderful covering of frost, backlit from the rising sun – click in for more detail.

Crystal Forest..

Another shot taken in the heavy frost last week. ย This is the top of a round timber fence post, again taken at sunrise…I liked the way the light caught the little needles of ice making this beautiful crystal forest ๐Ÿ™‚
