Sugar pink…

Hello everyone,  I’m still in macro mode at the moment so here is an image of the bracts which form the outside of a Protea flower (also sometimes known as sugarbushes).  It’s hairy texture is both brilliant and a nightmare for macro as the hairs pick up every speck of dust and dirt.  The colour reminded me of the confectionery Turkish Delight hence “Sugar Pink”.  Click in for a larger image  🙂

Watching…

I took this image in December during our last summer.  It was an image I’d forgotten about as it was a busy time with work and Christmas. I’m endlessly fascinated by the wonderful world of spiders, their camouflage and habits.  Click in to see the details of this spider sitting in her summer flower –  watching and waiting 🙂

A golden moment….

Another quick hello!  Having not had much opportunity to take images of late, I saw this in our garden a few weeks ago just as the last rays of the sun for the day were hitting this little flower (unusual for me, I threw the label away last year when I planted it – doh!).  A wonderful moment with the background in deep shadow and the low angled light picking up detail of the pollen grains and petal texture 🙂
