Another image from our trip away. I am endlessly fascinated by patterns made by wind or sea in the sand. The tide was coming in for this shot and this is just one pattern made by a single wave on the sand.. 🙂

Waratah Bay Sunrise.
In the last few days we managed to get a couple of nights away at the coast. We stayed at Waratah Bay which is near Wilsons Prom, the most southern point of mainland Australia. Today I was rewarded with an amazing sunrise. I had checked the tide times and knew high tide would be about 2 hours before first light – perfect! This image was taken about 15 minutes before actual sunrise…. 🙂

Yesterday was one of those beautiful late autumn mornings, fog filtering sunbeams through the trees at sunrise – just magical…
Sci-Fi Seaweed!
On Friday we had a day trip to the coast (a 2 hour drive), the weather was so overcast and dark, but having driven so far I had to make the best of it. High tide was just over and so lots of interesting seaweed had washed up. Taken with the macro in what was very, very wet sand (the tripod sank by the millisecond!), I’ve never seen this type before. To compound issues, I had the macro lens on an old DSLR so the resolution isn’t that great. Still, good to be out 🙂
A million bubbles!
Last week I went back to Lauriston Reservoir to take some images of the other side of the spillway, but the roar of water caught my attention. One of the sluice gates was open and I found myself nearly hypnotised by the cascade of water hitting a structure that covers a massive tap. Taken with the tripod as high as it would go, me on tip toes, and this milky effect produced by tiny bubbles – please click in to see more detail.
Such a perfect tree…
Yesterday was an overcast day with many heavy rain clouds rolling in (for us winter isn’t far away) when I spotted this tree up on a hill. It’s shape was so perfect… 🙂
Camel’s Hump…
I saw this the other day at the end of an afternoon with the sun low in the sky. The scenery struck me as being very apt – the Camel’s Hump is a mamelon, formed about 6 million years ago when thick lava forced its way through a narrow vent…the clouds almost look like smoke from a volcano.
Light and dark…
During the year or with different seasons, there are certain times of day where the light is just magical to us all. At this time for us in the southern hemisphere, sunrise is now getting later and later and the light is just simply beautiful…a moment captured in autumn 🙂
Raindrop abstract…
Well, harvest is over and I’m nearly back! I hadn’t realised with the house move and harvest on it’s tail just how exhausted I became. Anyhow, what I have realised, is that when I don’t get to go out and take images, there is something missing 🙂 So, today is a total abstract, taken this morning in between showers. The top of a capped fence with rain drops refracting light into a shaded area taken with the macro… 🙂
