This was taken last month, late, on a very dull overcast afternoon at the Lauriston Reservoir in Kyneton. This is the wall of the spillway, at the top there are sluice gates that open and so that in the residual run off, several different types of algae (or maybe a different age?) have grown producing these rainbow stripes.
I promise not to bore you with pictures of grapes during my harvest, but….
… more Pinot Noir grapes. It is a sight I’ve seen so many times, but I always ‘see’ landscapes in the mounds of fruit. This time the stalks look like vine trunks…. 🙂
Last image from my recent visit to Pyalong. I’ve enjoyed this series of posts – they are surreal but then so is the landscape. I’m aware they may be becoming a bit ‘samey’ so something different next time….anyhow, this scene struck me as it was so desolate, dead trees both standing and fallen in a tinder box landscape….
The cirrus clouds today were amazing, and yes, quite surreal – the scale was huge! I’m not sure this works due to the smoke haze still on the mountain horizon but the sky screamed out black and white so here it is….
Yesterday was a precursor for the stormy weather that came last night and today. I watched this sky literally churning before me yesterday late morning – it was very dramatic, if not a little unsettling. Processed using a red filter and blue toning, once again to bring out the texture of the clouds.

I took this using a slow shutter speed to catch the beautiful movement of the grass looking up towards the sky.
I was brought up on the coast in South Wales, UK and I do miss the sea, so visiting Anglesea was both strangely familiar and yet different. Now living in mountain ranges in the southern hemisphere meant I ended up taking a lot of images that day – there was so much to see (and I didn’t have a macro lens when I lived in the UK)!! There will be more to come…
This is one of the trellis systems at work. It is a large block which is nearly 4 Ha in area. I have often seen this image in my mind, and after trying it with a wide-angle lens (which didn’t work) I finally took this at 300 mm which not only has compressed it, but also ‘fits’ the image I had.
