I have submitted this to the 37th Monochrome Madness and it is a happy coincidence that I have chosen a poppy to be posted on this special Remembrance Day (though this image is not of a Flanders Poppy).

This is an image of the Avenue of Honour at Macedon. Â An important part of Australian culture, there are 547 known avenues in Australia. Â Each tree represents a person who saw or died in wartime service, generally in the First World War. Â The planting of this one was initially finished in August 1918 – you can read the local newspaper article here. It is hard to believe that this is the 33rd week of Monochrome Madness, hosted and curated by the ever hard working Leanne Cole and initiated by Leanne and Laura Macky. Â It seems to grow every week with wonderful monochrome images from all around the globe. Â This is my submission for this week – a side view of part of the 100 metre long Wisteria Avenue at Alowyn Gardens.
Another rushed post, and whilst on the topic of rushed, I apologise for not answering comments at the mo, but I do read them and very much appreciate them – things will get back to normal in a week or so 🙂  This is an upward view of Ghost Gums which are native to my part of the world here in SE Australia.  I love their white trunks and the foliage now highlighted in near infrared.  Also this is my submission for the 27th Monochrome Madness curated by the ever hard working Leanne Cole 🙂
This week is the 26th Monochrome Madness Challenge posted on Leanne Cole’s blog (Wednesday mornings AEST).  Since it is a landmark posting of half a year, the challenge this week was to post a colour image that is monochrome.  I do love my bits of old wood and found this one last Saturday – weathered to this silver grey with a hint of orange from the lichen.  Congratulations to both Leanne and Laura Macky for starting and curating (Leanne being the curator) to what is fast becoming an institution 🙂
I haven’t had any time to go out and about with the camera of late and so another macro – this time of a Protea flower and also my entry for the 25th Monochrome Madness Challenge which is diligently curated by Leanne Cole.  Do check out the post (published Wednesday mornings AEST).  As always I was drawn to the pattern in this beautiful bloom with it’s incredible ‘fluffy’ texture and nature doing what she does best 🙂
This is the last image I will post for now taken during the sub-zero morning we had a week ago.  It’s a puddle with many frozen layers which created these beautiful patterns (and the wonderful physics I can only start to understand) .  It is an image which I both like and dislike, it was difficult to capture as there were many layers of ice of different opacity and sharpness but I liked the overall pattern. This is a gum tree going through its natural process of shedding bark.  Taken on a rainy day, a whole chunk had come away (you can see the stripes on the trunk behind), making this incredible natural sculpture. This is also my entry for the 21st Monochrome Madness Challenge initiated by Laura Macky along with Leanne Cole who is the curator.  Do take time to check out Leanne’s post if you haven’t already..
So we enter yet another dismal week of weather 😦  This is my entry for this weeks Monochrome Madness Challenge hosted by Leanne Cole and Laura Macky….a great challenge where you get to see a heap of brilliant work in monochrome by a wide range of artists, do check it out.
I’m not entirely happy with my image, I’m rusty with my macro lens, especially putting it on a full frame camera again, but has been good to get it out and actually use it 🙂  Taken using natural light – please click on the image for more detail.
