The long rows (and a lot of footsteps!) ….

I thought I would share an image of the new spring growth at work (taken just over a week ago), which is going at what seems like a rate of knots.  This is from the block that has the longest rows – each is approximately 222 metres (242 yards) long – a lot of walking and far easier on a quad bike if you are in a hurry!

Late spring seed heads…

Firstly apologies as I have been a little sporadic in the blog world of late – am playing catch up!

I saw this mixture of tiny little grass seed heads last weekend at Pyalong. The shape of some of the seeds reminded me of hops and almost looked like they were on little fishing lines – very delicate and pretty.  It was blowing a gale so not as sharp as I would want but the high afternoon light was beautiful 🙂

Tall poppies!

Today we went back to Alowyn Gardens and they had swathes of poppies currently in bloom.  My instinct was to get in the middle of them but it isn’t my garden so I stayed on the fringe and took images from the edge- still beautiful 🙂

Apologies as also I am behind in my reader – catch up day tomorrow 🙂

On a grand scale….

It’s early spring here in southern Oz and the weather can be very dramatic!  I took this on my way home from work last Tuesday – 5 minutes before the thunder and hail was so bad we had to pull over due to no visibility and localised flash flooding…then I saw this scene 🙂  A little unnerving as new thunder cells to my left and behind me rumbling away, but in front of me this passing cell with HUGE boiling clouds – I felt very small 🙂

Natural Density Filter!!

Yesterday was a very cold spring morning.  The temperature of the dam water would have been considerably higher than the air temperature so it was almost like a steaming bath.  The result was the rising sun being filtered through a haze –  brings a whole new meaning to ND filter…

Wake up little sleepy head…

The onset of spring has made me feel like a little kid in a sweet shop – everywhere I look there are flowers or buds I want to make images of.  I have a current fascination with members of the daisy family that open and close with the rhythm of the sun.  This little daisy hadn’t as yet had the full benefit of the sun and its warmth as was taken early in the morning…

Ice, ice baby…

We have a frost protection system at work which operates by means of overhead sprinklers.  The longer the temperature remains below freezing, the bigger and more dramatic the ice formations.  Last Thursday night the early end of winter had a sting in its tail….

Reaching for the spring light…

The light is changing with the welcoming in of an early spring.  I think these are a type of Michaelmas Daisy (about 1 cm in size)?

‘I wandered lonely as a cloud…’

Last week I got to see paddocks full of Daffodils – hence the title which is of course from William Wordsworth.  Many thanks to Gus, who owns the property and to my friend Liz for taking me there!  Taken very late afternoon, just before sunset.
