Hip hip hareray!!

As some of you will know I have tried many attempts to photograph the hares I see at work – I find them beautiful but very elusive creatures and have probably hundreds of images of them running away!  Yesterday I was a little luckier!….

Seeds at sunrise

The last two days have been very hot – yesterday was 38 C and so early morning is a pleasant time when it is still relatively cool.  I took this at sunrise today – the grass seeds lit up by the first rays of the day.

Wombat 24 Mountain Bike Race

A different sort of post today – it contains people!  Yesterday I went to the beautiful Cammeray Waters where the Wombat 24 was taking place.  The endurance race lasted for 24 hours and it was a really well organised event with plenty going on.  I should add that I was there to see the band my husband is in (The Wood Ol’ Boys), not to participate in the race, or be there for 24 hours for that matter – these guys are fit! The first image is better in full view so please click.

These trails are two riders – one just tail lights, the other headlights and helmet light

Reaching for the spring light…

The light is changing with the welcoming in of an early spring.  I think these are a type of Michaelmas Daisy (about 1 cm in size)?

Magic moment..

Yesterday there was an amazing sunrise again, but this time there was a bonus!  As I watched the light change before the sun came up, a huge flock of Ibis appeared to my left and I realised they would pass right across my field of view.  The flocks are beautifully graceful at any given time, but in front of this sunrise – a magic moment!

Shades of ‘Le Chat Noir’?

A slightly different post…When I saw Yertle, one of the farm cats sitting against the doorway, the image immediately reminded me of the late 19th century French poster, Le Chat Noir.  Yertle is a rescue cat who has the most amazing, friendly character and a lazy eye.

The bare bones…

This dead tree struck me by its elegance.  I liked the simplicity of the scene from the sky through to the surroundings.

Dwarfed by Giants!

Last week we went to Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenong Ranges National Park.  The forest is of Mountain Ash and tree ferns.  The Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans)  is the tallest of all flowering plants, growing to 70 to 114 metres (16-49 ft) high and live on average for 400 years.  It was a humbling experience walking amongst these living giants.

Frost Feathers

Yesterday morning there was a hard frost – yes, winter is on the way!  These formations were on the windows and bonnet of some old cars. It was interesting watching the light – some images were taken just before sunrise and then completely changed as the sun came up illuminating different textures.
