Pressing Pinot…

Hello again everyone!  It is good to be doing a post again 🙂  This image was taken about two weeks ago as one of the last of the finished 2015 Pinot Noir ferments was being pressed off the skins at work.  I used a longer exposure to capture the ‘trails’ of juice as it splashed into the press tray using the available light from an open door.  The fermented wine is now safely in French oak barrels where it will mature for another two years 🙂

The long and short of it…

I’ve had the last week off work and the weather hasn’t been brilliant. On Tuesday, the weather was dark with heavy drizzle and I was inspired by a post on Leanne Cole’s ‘second’ blog to visit a local waterfall.  This was taken at Trentham which is one of the highest single drop waterfalls in Victoria at 32 Metres (35ft), taken with both a long and short lens 🙂

First Light – Monochrome Madness

I really enjoy seeing the work of others in the Monochrome Madness Challenge hosted by Leanne Cole.   Here is my offering for this week.  I haven’t had very much experience doing longer exposures in digital and something I would like to do more of.  This was a shot from our trip to the coast last month taken on the first morning where rain quickly followed and the sunrise didn’t really happen.  The second day was much more successful for a colour image and can be seen here.

First steps into the Milky Way….

I haven’t done any night time photography since my days in film (a LONG time ago) and have never attempted stars, so here is the first up.  The new moon has presented a few nights of breathtaking displays of the Milky Way, so last night I attempted to capture it..what a steep learning curve, and all exposures too long and hence the start of star trails but can’t wait to have another go.  I decided to share this as the image still portrays what a tiny, minuscule spot we are in the beautiful grand scheme of things…
