A Dragon’s Eye?!

Yesterday I visited a wonderful garden filled with many northern hemisphere specimens – I don’t know what this tree was but the trunk and bark where wonderful! ย A macro abstract of this ‘eye’ in the trunk which made me think of a Dragon’s eye… ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Tall poppies!

Today we went back to Alowyn Gardens and they had swathes of poppies currently in bloom. ย My instinct was to get in the middle of them but it isn’t my garden so I stayed on the fringe and took images from the edge- still beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚

Apologies as also I am behind in my reader – catch up day tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

Spring has sprung!

Yes, at long last the weather has turned and today is the first day of daylight saving where the clocks have gone forward so it feels even more like we have turned that wintry corner. ย For me, work starts to get busy, as does the garden and it’s macro lens time! ย  These two images were taken very early yesterday morning. ย Click in twice for more details ๐Ÿ™‚

The tunnel…

This image was taken at Alowyn Gardens and is a series of Wisteria tunnels or walkways. ย I shall go back (very soon) when the Wisteria blooms for a colour image…lining up the image was hard enough let alone planting and constructing it ๐Ÿ™‚

I missed the deadline for MMC 30 this week, but do check it out ๐Ÿ™‚

Watercolour…

I appreciate this image won’t be everyone’s cup of tea! ย This is a complex reflection of a cliff face with gums trees growing on it, taken a few weeks ago at Turpins Falls.ย  (The website image looks like it was taken at about the same time of day) ย The reflection is on a very large pool which in turn is being distorted by ripples from the distant waterfall. ย I foundย  the patterns literally mesmerising as the late afternoon sun sank lower and the reflections became more vivid ๐Ÿ™‚

The long and short of it…

I’ve had the last week off work and the weather hasn’t been brilliant. On Tuesday, the weather was dark with heavy drizzle and I was inspired by a post on Leanne Cole’s ‘second’ blog to visit a local waterfall. ย This was taken at Trentham which is one of the highest single drop waterfalls in Victoria at 32 Metres (35ft), taken with both a long and short lens ๐Ÿ™‚

On a grand scale….

It’s early spring here inย southern Oz and the weather can be very dramatic! ย I took this on my way home from work last Tuesday – 5 minutes before the thunder and hail was so bad we had to pull over due to no visibility and localised flash flooding…then I saw this scene ๐Ÿ™‚ ย A little unnerving as new thunder cells to my left and behind me rumbling away, but in front of me this passing cell with HUGE boiling clouds – I felt very small ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking up…MMC 27

Another rushed post, and whilst on the topic of rushed, I apologise for not answering comments at the mo, but I do read them and very much appreciate them – things will get back to normal in a week or so ๐Ÿ™‚ ย This is an upward view of Ghost Gums which are native to my part of the world here in SE Australia. ย I love their white trunks and the foliage now highlighted in near infrared. ย  Also this is my submission for the 27th Monochrome Madness curated by the ever hard working Leanne Cole ๐Ÿ™‚

A dam at dawn…

I took this image on my way to work this morning – very cold (-1C) and watched the colour unfold as I was driving. ย I saw this dam with the wonderful reflections of the (very large) lambs against the increasing fog and warm pre-sunrise light – I had to stop and get out with the camera ๐Ÿ™‚
