Butterfly Ball!

Melbourne Zoo has an amazing Butterfly House which was has been through a major restoration project in recent years making it more sustainable. It is heated to 28 degrees C all year round as all the species are native to tropical and subtropical Australia.

The coots on the dam are always entertaining, from the scuffles to graceful dives, they are certainly one of the noisiest of this bird community!

Today again was thundery, was raining and dawn.  Great fun was had with the stick and general running about! We both got wet!!

Food for thought.

A week and a half ago I bought a small mushroom growing kit.  I’ve never grown them before. They are Pearl Oysters and I think they are dinner tomorrow!

Darling Dahlias.

Heading towards late summer the Dahlias are starting to bloom.  One of my favourites at this time of year, the sheer variety of their shapes and colours always amazes me.

Fly fishing?

Yesterday was a day of dramatic thunderstorms.  During the afternoon, before the later storms, it became very hot and humid.  The surface of the dam was busy! (Click on the images for the best view).
