Sunset on the Mount

In my last post I described how disappointing the sunset was on Mount Macedon due to a thick band off fog/cloud that rolled in just before the actual sunset.  Here is another image taken about 5 minutes before. This is looking over the tops of some very tall gum trees..

Golden hour

A few days ago I went to Mount Macedon to capture the sunset.  As is the wonderfully fickle weather here, a band of thick fog rolled in just as the sun was setting.  However, about 15 minutes before, the light was wonderfully gentle.  I liked the golden hues on the grass through the gum trees

Whispering grass…..

I took this using a slow shutter speed to catch the beautiful movement of the grass looking up towards the sky.

Little and large..

I was brought up on the coast in South Wales, UK and I do miss the sea, so visiting Anglesea was both strangely familiar and yet different.  Now living in mountain ranges in the southern hemisphere meant I ended up taking a lot of images that day – there was so much to see (and I didn’t have a macro lens when I lived in the UK)!!  There will be more to come…

White horses…

Today we went to Anglesea which is on the Great Ocean Road, in Victoria, Australia. Click on the link to read its amazing history.  The waves were big and the wind was up, dramatic scenes and white horses galore!

Natural Density Filter!!

Yesterday was a very cold spring morning.  The temperature of the dam water would have been considerably higher than the air temperature so it was almost like a steaming bath.  The result was the rising sun being filtered through a haze –  brings a whole new meaning to ND filter…

Here hare here….

Apologies, I couldn’t resist the title which is a line from one of my favourite films Withnail and I! Hares, in my experience, are difficult creatures to capture in an image – so fast that I generally see their tails flash before me, and then gone.  These were a pair that I captured moving on my belly to get a little closer after work last week.  One day… 🙂

Crossing the t’s…

This is one of the trellis systems at work.  It is a large block which is nearly 4 Ha in area.  I have often seen this image in my mind, and after trying it with a wide-angle lens (which didn’t work) I finally took this at 300 mm which not only has compressed it, but also ‘fits’ the image I had.
