There are a few ornamental Quince hedges (Chaenomeles) in the garden. I love the bright colours at the end of winter. These have started flowering a little too early and so have been hit by the frosts.
This bud in the last image makes me think of a Brussel Sprout…..sharing the common characteristics of a kind of tight neatness…something satisfying in the contained shape….but then all parallels lost in the first two images as they stimulate thoughts of a Japanese sense of design and form…which inherently speaks to a delicate spare nature. Loving em.!
