White Feather

It’s been a very long time since I have posted anything –ย  a lot has happened as I’m sure is the case for everyone. In August 2017 I received a diagnosis of primary breast cancer and 11 months after finishing active treatment I have recently had a diagnosis of secondary or metastatic breast cancer.

Thanks to a wonderful support network of family and friends I am very positive and decided to resume the blog and given the theme an update…getting out with my camera is a good thing and the blog is good motivation to do so ๐Ÿ™‚

We recently had a wonderful stay at Johanna near Cape Otway and visited many of the beautiful beaches along The Great Ocean Road.ย  At a small beach called Wild Dog Cove I found so many beautiful things – this is a wet feather with a guest attached!

  1. Dear Lisa,

I’m so sorry to hear you have been going through such a worrying time (with Cancer). It’s so good to hear you have a very supportive network to help you along your health journey…..hopefullly towards much improvement.

Photography has been the hobby that’s kept me going through difficult times and a further deterioration in my own health. Even though I can’t get out walking much these days I urge you to reconnect with blogging online – there’s always a little challenge in trying to think about what to blog about in difficult times, but just keep to the Simple and Meaningful subjects that mean most to you.

Living my live Mindfully, just worrying about today is the only way to keep positive in my view.

Wishing you well Better Time ahead and looking forward to seeing what subjects you find along your renewed photographic endeavours. Fresh air, crisp cool mornings and milder weather after our hot Summer is bound to make you feel more comfortable in Nature.

    Best Wishes

  2. Lisa, I’m very sorry to hear your news. A good friend of our’s also has breast cancer, and so I have some idea of the impacts to your life that you have had to withstand, and are continuing to withstand.

Photography has an ever increasing track record of being therapeutic for those suffering from a wide range of both physical and mental health problems, and I certainly think your ideas of getting out and about with a camera – and of returning to blogging – both positive and helpful. Get out into the fresh air, get out into the Natural World, and loose yourself within it, let it gently take you over, become absorbed by it.

I also agree entirely with Vicki’s views – including thinking, if you can, just about each day as you live it, rather than being brought low by nebulous worries about the longer term. And also of not stressing about what to blog about, but just keeping to simple and meaningful things.

    You are in my thoughts.

  3. So good to see that you have taken hold of your camera again Lisa……you certainly work
magic with it. White feather is stunning with delicate transparency and every grain of sand looking like colourful gems…truly beautiful work from you, as always.
    Look forward to seeing more!
    X Jude

  4. Hi Lisa, despite everything you’ve been and going through, it’s great to see you are getting back into your passion. Love the picture, such depth of detail. I was intrigued about the sand pebbles around the feather, as you never see them that close up. There are so many polished quartz crystals and other types of rock, but I also found at the bottom of the picture a small little Amethyst (purple). Awesome.

  5. Saddened to hear the news of your health…comfort and care from family and friends is a positive way to find exits from gloom. Giving us images with your unique eye to details and forms is a wonderful gift, I Thank you.

  6. Dear Lisa, despite your terrible health news, I’m glad you have the determination to fight the diagnosis and live your life, taking joy in the little details that you’ve always appreciated. I trust you’re receiving the best care and support from those around you.

I’m so glad you have started again. Typically this feather is exquisite. I’m also really interested in the perfect round holes that some wee creature has created…intriguing.
Thank you. Its beautiful. Hoping you’re not too uncomfortable at the moment.xx
